KRONENOST FONTINA, A MASTERFUL MELTER
MONROE, Wisconsin – Move over mozzarella. There’s a new master of the U.S. melting-cheese market. It’s Swedish-style Fontina, and it’s winning the mouths and minds of American consumers.
Not convinced? Consider the attached chef-created recipes for Lobster & Fontina Cheese Quesadillas, and Sweet Potato Risotto: the cheese that melts – and melds -- all the other ingredients together is Roth Käse’s Kronenost Fontina, a slightly tart yet yeasty and full-bodied Swedish-style Fontina. Roth Käse’s Master Cheesemakers use their very own imported cultures and the traditional cheese-making techniques that have been perfected over four generations of cheesemaking.
The result is Kronenost Fontina, with its lovely creamy-ivory interior, wrapped in a bright red wax coat. Kronenost slices as readily as it melts, and melts lusciously from slices, cubes or shreds, a quality that transforms pizzas, pastas and hot sandwiches into heavenly delights. And its slight yeastiness makes it an especially marvelous melter in poultry dishes, too.
Says CEO Fermo Jaeckle, “We make our Kronenost Fontina like we do all our Signature cheeses: with rich milk from Wisconsin’s best dairy cows, time-tested techniques and aging practices that we brought with us in 1991, and all the patience a hand-crafted cheese deserves.”
Roth Käse started making cheese in Switzerland in 1863 and began US cheesemaking in 1991. The Swiss chalet facility, located in the rolling hills of Monroe, WI, houses Roth Käse’s line of award-winning cheeses that includes Grand Cru Surchoix Gruyère, Buttermilk Blue, and Kronenost Fontina. Roth Käse is a leading manufacturer and marketer of handcrafted cheeses, making only the highest quality, best tasting artisan cheeses every day.
